The game

A tabletop empire, built from one region and a handful of units

ARQA drops two to four rulers into the ancient world, from the Danube valley to the Persian Gulf. Each player takes one of five kingdoms and starts with a single region. From there you expand, fortify, trade and fight your way toward the throne.

Deals are struck across the table constantly, and none of them bind. Nothing stops another ruler from breaking a promise the turn after they make it, which is where most games are actually decided.

Easy to teach, hard to close out

The core rules take minutes. Roll the action die, roll the event die, take your actions. The depth comes from what everyone else is doing at the same time, and from the character cards nobody has played yet.
